Carlo Ancelotti has hit back at Javier Tebas, insisting Real Madrid are not crazy over requesting audio of the referee’s conversation with VAR and saying they just want things to improve.
Madrid lodged a complaint with the Royal Spanish Football Federation this week after being unhappy that the referee did not send off Espanyol defender Carlos Romero for a challenge on Kylian Mbappe –
which Romero scored the winner for Espanyol against Madrid last weekend.
Meetings were held on Thursday between La Liga clubs, the federation and the referees’ committee, but Madrid did not attend. Tebas said Los Blancos had lost their minds over the issue and were trying to play the victim.

Madrid have asked the federation to release audio of the conversation between on-field referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz and VAR assistant Javier Iglesias Villanueva during the fouls on Mbappe and the disallowed goal for Vinicius Junior. Ancelotti
said Madrid’s requests have not been responded to so far, although federation president Rafael Luzan said they have nothing to hide.
“From what I hear, nobody is happy (with the referees). People think the system works in Madrid’s favour, but when Madrid wants it to change, everyone is against it. That surprises me a bit… We haven’t received the audio yet. I don’t know why they don’t want to give it to us, you have to ask them.”
